What personal data we DO collect and why we collect it

Purchases

When you order a product from us, we use the information you provide to process your order request and fulfill your order. You will receive follow-up emails concerning the progress of your order. Your information will be kept as long as necessary to verify you received our product as expected by you.

We do not store your credit card information. It is passed along to our partners to process your order. If you use WooPay to store your credit card it will be stored by them and can then be used on any website that accepts WooPay. See the documentation here: WooPay Customer Documentation – WooCommerce.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our web pages we collect the data shown in the comments form.

We also use a spam detection service to filter out spam and remove vulgar messages. This software also protects against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activities. It uses the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to aid spam detection. This information is kept only long enough to perform this function, unless there are legal and regulatory requirements. These requirements do not apply to most users. For more information click the link to their privacy policy under the comment form.

We may provide an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: Gravatar Privacy Policy. After your comment is approved, the profile picture you have paired with your email address in your Gravatar profile will appear in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website or our social media pages, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to these websites can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

The Contact form on the Contact page sends us an email with your name, email address, comments, and the name of the website receiving your comment. This information is only used to reply to your request. It will never be used for marketing purposes or shared with others.

There may be a checkbox on the comment form that enables you to be added to our notification list, if you so desire.

Notification forms

The sign-up form to be notified of new content asks for your first name and email address. This information will be stored in our database on MailerLite.com, and will only used to notify you of new content on our website, including new items in our store. It is never used for marketing purposes, and never shared with others.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) that is stored on other websites. Embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the host website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Affiliate Marketing

We only share and promote products, services, or businesses that we have found useful and could be beneficial to you, regardless of whether we have a financial relationship with the provider.

We may receive a small percentage when you follow a link from our pages to a bookseller or other entity and make a purchase. This does not result in additional charges to you or additional costs. This does help defray the cost of maintaining our web site.

These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their site.

At present we have no affiliations with this web site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments more quickly.

For visitors that register for notifications on our website, their personal information is stored in their user profile. Any registered user can request to have their personal information deleted at any time. Website administrators may be able to see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. This will include any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

From time to time you may receive emails from us based on the Personal Data that you provide us. We may communicate with you in response to your inquiries to provide the Services you request and to manage your account. If we have your consent, we may also send you updates and other communications. Every email will contain a link to be able to opt-out of receiving future emails.

Where your data is sent
